When Nike Factory Store opens in New Jersey
The new Nike Factory store will be a shoe-and-nike store for all of New Jersey.
The Nike Factory is the latest addition to the state’s burgeoning shoe and apparel retailing scene.
“This is a really big deal for the state of New York, and New Jersey has been very, very active in the apparel and shoe industry,” said New York State Senator Brad Hoylman, a Democrat from the Upper Hudson Valley.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said the state will be one of the biggest apparel retailers in the country.
Christie says he will spend the next four years working with retailers to find the right business models.
A large part of the apparel industry is driven by the need to keep consumers engaged with brands, Christie said.
With the new store, Christie says New Jersey will become a global destination for footwear and apparel.
Nike says it will have 100,000 square feet of space, plus a full-service retail department.
There will be an apparel boutique, a sports apparel shop, a children’s clothing store, and a fashion shop.
About 100 employees will be at the site when it opens in 2019.
One of the new locations in New York City is located on the corner of Madison and Columbus Streets in Brooklyn.
This will be the largest store in the state to be built in the past five years, according to Bloomberg News.
In 2017, New Jersey became the first state to offer tax breaks to companies that move their headquarters overseas, joining New York and California as the top states in the nation.
