How to get a ‘fresh’ apple pie in a few minutes
Two fresh, crisp pies can be the difference between your apple pie topping being too crunchy and your crust getting too soft.
To make your pie taste fresh and crunchy, use the same apple pie toppings in all of your pies.
Start with two ingredients: 1.
fresh or frozen apples, peeled and sliced 1.1 cup water 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1/8 teaspoon salt 2.
Freshly grated applesauce or homemade apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon apple cider concentrate 1 tablespoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 2 tablespoons butter 3 tablespoons apple cider 3.
Mix all ingredients together.
Pour into a 9×13 pan, leaving at least 1 inch of room between each pie.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Cool on a wire rack in the refrigerator for 10 minutes before slicing.
To serve, remove pie from the oven and let cool.
