What’s next for the ‘Xfinity Store’ on Amazon?
It is unclear what will happen to the Xfinity stores in Canada and the U.S., with both companies declining to comment on their business.
“Our strategy is to keep our stores open and to offer our customers the best possible value.
We will be evaluating our business in the future,” said Amazon Canada vice-president of marketing and media relations Alex Clements.
“We are working with our retail partners to provide a better experience and value to our customers.”
Amazon and Netflix have also declined to comment.
A spokesperson for Netflix Canada said the company is “still in discussions” with its U.K. partners.
Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In 2017, Amazon opened a second Toronto store in the downtown core, the first in Canada.
That location is now the only one of its kind in Canada, and it will remain open for at least two more years.
The store also includes two new retail locations in Mississauga and Brampton.
The Brampton location, which will open this summer, will include a cafe and a coffee bar.
In Mississauga, the new location will include an office and a grocery store.
“The Brampton store is an exciting addition to our Mississauga neighbourhood, and we are excited to bring our local employees, customers and employees from across the city together,” said David DeGraw, general manager of Mississauga’s Office and Public Services.
