Windsurfing for the whole family
The new wave of holiday decorating is bringing in the kids and adults alike and the family is going to need some help.
The store is the first to open in the city of Wollongong, in the south-west of the state.
Owner Michael Gaudet is a seasoned snowboarder who’s been creating custom snowboards for over a decade.
“My first snowboard was from the 1980s and that’s how I learned about this,” he said.
He says he was lucky to find a local store who had the right equipment to work with.
Mr Gaudett says his staff have the equipment and the expertise they need to work in the industry.
“[The staff] have been working really hard for the last few years and I think they are well-trained and very professional,” he says.
There are a few other shops in Wollonngong that are starting to open, including the Surfers and Gullies and the local Surfers’ Wharf.
It’s all a new wave for this city.
And as much as you may love the holidays, the local businesses are just as important to the community, Mr Gaudets says.
“I think the main thing is the people in this area, I think that’s what drives them.”
It was a family business for a while, but now there’s more activity coming through and the store is a good sign of that, he says, with a busy summer ahead.
