Target, Walmart are closing down Irish stores

Target, a major retailer, and Walmart are both closing down stores in Ireland.

Walmart said it would close stores in the Irish capital Dublin in the coming months.

Target said it will close Irish stores in Cork, Limerick, Cork city and Galway in 2017.

Walgreens said it is closing its Irish stores.

A spokesman said: “We are committed to supporting the communities that are part of our global community and are working to support our local communities in the years ahead.”

In the coming weeks, we will announce details of our planned closing of Irish retail stores.

“The retailer said it was committed to investing in Ireland and its communities.

It said the stores will close to meet future demand.
