New gun store is opening in Ohio’s biggest city
John Kasich said Thursday that the state is opening up a new gun store in the Ohio town of Springville, after local police told him the company was violating city regulations.
The decision by the city of Springfield to allow the gun store, which opened in May, comes a day after the state announced that it would close its only gun store.
Springfield Police Chief Chris O’Connor told the Dayton Daily News that the store’s license was revoked because the gun shop violated city regulations, which prohibit the sale of firearms to people who are prohibited from possessing them in the city.
The company is a gun store called Big Dog Guns, and it sells guns to local governments, including the Springville Police Department.
The owner of the Springfield store told the News he is trying to find a new location for the gun company.
The company’s website states that it is a licensed firearms dealer in Ohio.
A spokesperson for Big Dog said the company is moving to the new location in Springville.
A company spokesman did not immediately return a call for comment.
