How to save a mattress store
A new mattress store is opening in Toronto, and it’s a big deal for anyone who wants to get rid of a mattress or bedding pile.
Mattressstore.ca, a new store in the city’s downtown core, is a new retailer of mattresses, bedding, books, furniture and accessories, said spokeswoman Lauren Smith.
“This is a big opportunity for us,” she said.
“We’re a boutique store and we’re a brand that has really been a huge hit in the Toronto area.
We’ve had hundreds of customers and they’re really happy with our products.”
Smith said the new mattress outlet will be a little bit smaller than a store with a full line of products.
She said the outlet will only be a one-store proposition, with a minimum of six stores in total.
“We’re really excited about it,” Smith said.
“It’s a brand with a great future and we think we’re going to be able to help that future.”
The new store will open in March 2018, but it will also be a store that is open to the public.
It will be located on Dundas Street between Victoria Street and Lawrence Avenue West, between Bathurst Street and College Avenue West.
“I think the idea is to build an online store where people can get to know the brand,” Smith added.
“The people that are coming to the stores are really excited.
They want to be a part of that and we’ve got a great way to help them connect with the brand.”
She said while the new store is a little smaller than some existing retailers, it’s not that different in size.
“They’ll have the same store but it’ll be a more intimate, smaller space,” she explained.
The new location will have a store entrance on Dundash Street.
It also has an indoor and outdoor seating area, an outdoor cafe area and a full-service kitchen.
“You’ll have a selection of products from top brands, like Amazon and Brooks Brothers, that will be available,” Smith explained.
“There’s a large selection of handbags and blankets that will also have a little more variety than what you would find in a store like this.”
The store will have about 10 staff members.
There will be no wait lists, but the store is expecting to open in late summer or early fall.
Smith said while there is a waitlist, she would like to make sure customers are informed before they sign up.
She added that people can visit the website and check out the different items and see what’s available, so it doesn’t feel like an extra step.
“All of our staff are very enthusiastic about what they’re doing and what they want to do for the community,” Smith stated.
“That’s why we’re working really hard to make this happen and make sure we’re making a real difference.”
